Winery days are one flat rate for four to eight hours, so you set the pace. Pick the wineries, book your tastings, and Jim handles the roads, the parking and the drive home.
Tastings are paid at each winery. Jim's day rate covers the car, the driver and the miles. Gratuity is appreciated and never required.
A Dahlonega trail day
Pickup at your cabin around 11. Wolf Mountain for lunch on the terrace, Montaluce, then Kaya or Frogtown for the view, and Jim has you home before dinner. Eight hours, four wineries, nobody counting pours.
A Helen afternoon
Habersham, Yonah Mountain and CeNita are all within 20 minutes of downtown Helen. Four hours covers three of them with time to linger.
Groups of four or more
The van seats seven with room for the cases you bring home. Bachelorette weekends and birthdays usually book the full day.

How much does a winery tour driver cost in Dahlonega or Helen?
One flat day rate: $360 for the sedan, which seats three, or $520 for the van, which seats seven. That covers anywhere from four to eight hours, so a full day on the Dahlonega wine trail costs the same as a short afternoon. Tastings are paid at each winery.
How many wineries can we visit in a day?
Three in a four-hour afternoon, four or five in a full eight-hour day. Most tastings run about an hour, and the Dahlonega wineries are 10 to 20 minutes apart.

Do you make the tasting reservations?
You book your own tastings, since most wineries want the card of the person tasting. Tell Jim the times and he builds the drive around them. On busy fall weekends reservations matter, especially at Wolf Mountain and Montaluce.
Can we bring wine home in the car?
Yes. The sedan's trunk holds a couple of cases, and the van holds plenty more. Jim keeps them upright.
Is a private driver cheaper than a wine tour company?
Usually, for groups of two to seven. Tour companies charge per person. Jim charges one day rate for the whole car, so a van full of seven works out to about $75 a person for the day, before tastings.
Do you pick up from cabins outside Helen?
Yes. Sautee, Cleveland, Unicoi, Clarkesville and the cabins around Dahlonega are all normal pickups. Jim comes to you and the clock starts at your door.
